Subaru Breaks Guinness World Record!

by , on
July 30, 2013

Breaking a world record is quite the feat and something that a lot of people have on their bucket list. And well, now Subaru can check that one off the list! Earlier this month 371 Subaru owners got together in the village of Itasca, Illinois and broke the record for “Largest Parade of Subaru Cars.” Sure, it’s a little bit of a wacky record, but they did it!

According to a recent press release by Subaru, “On Saturday, July 13, 2013, 371 Subaru owners from nine states broke the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ record for the “Largest Parade of Subaru Cars” in the world. In addition to breaking the record, Subaru and parade participants supported two very worthy charities — PAWS Chicago and Salute, Inc. Both organizations received $5,000 to support their individual areas of philanthropy.”

So basically it was just a great day for everyone. Money was raised for two great causes, and a world record was broken. How cool is that?

If you’re interested in buying a Subaru so that you can take part in the next parade (if they ever want to raise the bar), stop by Hassett Automotive! We have lots of Subaru’s in stock and we would love to help you find the right one for you.

We hope to see you soon!

Summer Car Maintenance (Part 2)

by , on
July 26, 2013

A couple weeks ago we did a blog with a few summer car maintenance tips. Just to recap, those tips were: Check your tires, Change your oil and oil filter, and de-winterize your car. But that’s just a few of the many things you can do to make sure your car is good-to-go for the summer months. Today we’d like to take a second and go over a few more things you can do to make sure your car keeps running strong during the hottest time of the year.

  • Check all the belts and hoses. The key to keeping your engine happy in the summer is keeping it cool. And just like you would want some nice cold water to keep you cool on a hot day, your car needs some coolant to keep it cool. So make sure all those hoses and belts under the hood are in good working order (AKA no cracks or leaks).
  • Your cars air filter can get clogged with sand and salt over the winter months, so to make sure your car can breathe, and is getting maximum MPG, change your air filter. The DOE even states that replacing a clogged filter can improve mileage by as much as 10 percent.
  • Summer’s are notorious for thunderstorms that pop-up out of nowhere. Make sure your ready to take on a torrential downpour with some fresh wiper blades. They’re not too expensive and you can get them at most department stores.

Keep checking our blog for the third and final installment of Summer Car Maintenance Tips which should be up sometime in the next couple weeks. And remember – Hassett Automotive is here for all your car care needs! If you need any help getting your car back in tip top shape, give us a call.
