Ford EcoBoost Sales Hit 500,000 V6 Engines Sold

Ford has been considered America’s number one choice for truck for the past 37 years, a fact that they have solidified with the sale of their 500,000th 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost-equipped F-150. Merely three years old, the 3.5-liter engine has continued to grow as a favorite among consumers, thanks to its amazing fuel efficiency.

Over the course of the last 38 months, F-150 EcoBoost owners have saved an estimated 56.8 million gallons of gas annually, which is the equivalent of installing 139 wind turbines for energy. With 57% of Ford F-150 light-duty trucks being sold with V6 engines, there’s no denying that V6 engines are quickly becoming the top choice for pickup drivers across the country.

“We expect those numbers to hold for the rest of the year,” said Doug Scott, Ford truck group marketing manager. “It really is amazing when you consider we are doing that with just two V6 engine choices—the 3.5-liter EcoBoost and the 3.5-liter TI-VCT engine. When we come out with the new 2015 F-150, we will offer three different V6 engines, so there is potential for further growth.”

Joining the 3.5-liter EcoBoost and Ti-VCT V6 engines will be a 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine with standard Auto Start-Stop, built in Lima, Ohio. If you’re looking for a pickup that won’t drain your wallet while it’s towing your camper, make sure you stop by Hassett Automotive today for a test drive!
