The invitation to “Date Night” from Hassett Lincoln of Wantagh meant an opportunity to not only test-drive the 2014 Lincoln MKZ, their sleek luxury sedan, but to cruise around the town with a new car for the night.
At first look, I notice the stunning design that is the signature Lincoln split-wing front grill. Our salesman, Doug Hacker, gave us the full concierge treatment, introducing us to the MKZ ‘s luminous dashboard with safety features galore, driver assist technology, Bluetooth wireless and the advanced audio sound system. Now we’re ready for a good time, as my wife and I — music playing loud—were on our way to celebrate my birthday.
The 2015 Lincoln Navigator is here!
Building on the DNA of a legendary brand first introduced in the late 90s, the newly redesigned – and reinvented – 2015 Lincoln Navigator truly takes power, beauty and performance to a stunning new level in the full-sized luxury SUV market.
It’s a complete rethink of what made the Navigator such a driving icon in the first place.
In fact, we’re amazed at how many upgrades and improvements Ford has design engineered into an already segment-leading vehicle. Here’s just a sampling of what’s new in the 2015:
A newly redesigned exterior with sleek new hood design, cleaner lines and a return of the distinctive split-wing grille completes the front end. The back end is cleaner and edgier with independent rear suspension and power up/down tailgate. Both ends feature LED lights as well as high-intensity discharge (HID) adaptive headlamps with LED accents. “Welcome mat” lights below both front doors offer an extra touch of functionality and style.
A newly updated interior with a smartly redesigned instrument panel is the focal point. The Reserve Package features sumptuously crafted leather and stitching, with a hand-wrapped leather instrument panel and glove box. Natural grain wood used in paneling and trim is new to the automotive industry, previously only found on yachts.
“With the new Navigator, Ford challenges the luxury SUV market on a whole new level,” says Lou Evans, General Sales Manager at Hassett Lincoln Ford Subaru of Wantagh, NY. “One look and you instantly see how this vehicle is in a class of its own, from the customer-focused technologies to its sheer luxury and power coupled with cargo space and towing capacity to haul virtually anything.”
Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is an annual auto show that focuses on luxury and elegance in automobiles. Then name “Concours d’Elegance” is literally translated to “a competition of elegance”, so needless to say, automakers from across the world head to Pebble Beach each year ready to show off their most elegant creations. Many car makers use this event as an opportunity to show off a new luxury car they’ve been working on; however, Lincoln took a different approach this year.
Instead of showing off a new luxury car, Lincoln decided to introduce a new trim level. At first this may sound strange, but with the new Black Label Collection, Lincoln is truly raising the bar for all luxury vehicles.
Essentially, the new Black Label will be the top trim level for new Lincoln cars. It will feature real premium materials such as genuine leathers and natural woods. According to a recent Lincoln press release, “Black Label was conceived and designed by a select Lincoln Design team to reflect the breadth of the brand. In its earlier days, Lincoln was a favorite vehicle for unique, sophisticated and luxurious bespoke exterior and interior themes. This has inspired a new direction to provide a higher level of luxury available to all clients of the brand – not just those who purchase the most expensive, top-of-range models.”
All of us here at Hassett are thrilled about this announcement and can’t wait until some Black Label cars are delivered to our dealership! If you’d like to learn more about the Black Label Collection, check out the full press release, or stop into Hassett Automotive in Wantagh, NY.
