The 2016 Explorer Platinum will enjoy some technological upgrades from Sony

Ford and Sony will be bringing some industry-first technology to the new 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum. With the idea of the perfect soundtrack in mind, an exclusive Sony sound system will be featured in the Explorer.

The audio system includes two industry-firsts: Live Acoustics and Clear Phase. It will also be the first time an exclusive Sony home audio technology system is actually used in a vehicle. The two Sony technologies offer an audio experience unlike any other. They create a concert-like quality within the Explorer that you won’t find in any other vehicle.

Matt Zuehlk, Ford Explorer brand manager said, “Explorer is about pushing boundaries and authentic high-end home theater sound isn’t just for the living room anymore.” He continued to announce the sound quality of the new Explorer will “knock your socks off.”

This cutting-edge 2016 Explorer Platinum technology will be making its way here this summer, so stay tuned to the Hassett Automotive blog and we’ll let you know when the new model has arrived! Until then, check out our inventory of the 2015 Ford Explorer.

2016 Ford Explorer

This is the 2015 Ford Explorer. What will be in store for the 2016 model?

Next year, Ford will celebrate 25 years of the Ford Explorer, and there is no better way to get ready for an event of such importance than with a fancy new wardrobe.

Of course, there’s more to the 2016 Ford Explorer than a bold new face. Much, much more.

Among the biggest changes is the addition of the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, which replaces the current generation’s optional 2.0-liter EcoBoost while managing to simultaneously increase power and torque and keep fuel economy steady.

Also new for the 2016 model is the Platinum series trim, which adds numerous luxurious interior and exterior touches including brushed aluminum and satin-finished ash wood trim, Nirvana leather, and signature lighting in the LED headlamps.

Other features include an improved suspension, available four-wheel drive with Terrain Management System™, hands free liftgate, and front and rear cameras with industry-first lens washers.

“Customers love Explorer, and expect this SUV to lead the way in innovation, performance and fun,” said Arie Groeneveld, chief engineer for the new Explorer. “It’s a tall order, but we’re aiming to build the best SUV in the world.”

Mission: accomplished. To check out the fruits of Ford’s labor, stay tuned to find out when you can test drive a 2016 Explorer for yourself at Hassett Automotive.

When you look for an SUV, what are you looking for? Perhaps safety is your chief concern. Maybe you’re looking for an SUV that gets great gas mileage. Or maybe the deciding factor for you is how the SUV looks. Unfortunately, many people these days think they can only get one of these things in an SUV. They think that if they’re getting a powerful engine, they must be getting pretty bad gas mileage, or if an SUV is safe, it must not have a cool look to it.

However, that is not the case with the 2013 Ford Explorer Sport. If you want terrain-conquering capability, class-leading highway mpg, high safety ratings, and a bold look, then look no further. The 2013 Ford Explorer is the SUV for you.
