5 Things You can Learn From Your First Car

It’s that time of the year again! College seniors all over the country are getting ready to graduate and move on to a new chapter of life. What an exciting time! It’s a time of making new friends, settling into a new job, and probably getting your very first car. Now, we may not have too much advice to offer on making new friends or finding your first job, but we sure know a lot about cars. So without further ado, we would like to share with you a few things you can learn from your first car:

Self-Reliance. Whether you’re figuring out how to change your windshield wipers, learning to check your oil, or popping out a dent, it’s all up to you now. You may have had your dad, or some other mentor to help you with these things growing up, but that’s probably not the case anymore. Think back to all the things you learned growing up and trust yourself.

Selflessness. Cars present a great opportunity to put your own interests aside and help someone else. Don’t be afraid to volunteer to drive, or even jump-start someone in need.

Budgeting. This is perhaps the best lesson your first car can teach you. Filling up your gas tank, paying for insurance, and being ready for unforeseen repairs is now something you need to plan for financially. My best advice when it comes to a budget is – be realistic.

Responsibility. Anytime you are driving a car with others on board, you have their lives in your hand. Sure, it may seem a little dramatic, but it’s true. Never forget how responsibility you have when driving someone else, and please, please, PLEASE – never text and drive.

Joy. Lastly, enjoy your first car. It truly is a joy to have the ability to drive wherever you want, whenever you want. Love it. Find a cool road. Go for a long road trip.

If you’re a recent graduate, or are about to graduate, Hassett Automotive would love to help you pick out your first car. Stop by today! Any one of our friendly and knowledgeable sales team members would love to help you out.

Hassett Automotive Proud To Take Part In Sharing the Love

Every December Subaru does a sales event called the “Share the Love” event. Some of you have probably heard about this event, but just in case you haven’t, let us tell you! Basically, Subaru has five charities picked out that they will donate $250 to for every vehicle purchased or leased while the “Share the Love” Event is going on. Those charities are the Alzheimer’s Association, ASPCA, the Make a Wish Foundation, Meals on Wheels, and the USO.

And now, thanks to more than 100,000 new owners and over 620 Subaru dealerships, Subaru has now donated nearly $25 million to charity!

Hassett Automotive is proud to have been a part of this great accomplishment, and we would like to thank everyone that purchased or leased a new Subaru from Hassett Subaru during the “Share the Love” Event. Because of you and the choice that you made, someone’s day was made a little brighter. We’re already looking forward to being a part of this great event later this year!

If you’re interested in learning more about this event, or if you have any questions about a Subaru vehicle, feel free to stop by Hassett Automotive, or give us a call at 866-525-9066.

Every Long Islander suffered in one way or another from the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, including all of us at Hassett Automotive of Wantagh. The one heartening aspect of this deadly storm was the way people across the Island came together to help each other get through those cold, dark days. Of course, our hearts go out to those still suffering in Sandy’s aftermath, along with hopes for a quick recovery.

At Hassett, we’re making it easier for our customers, and others, who experienced damage to, or the total loss of, their car, truck, or SUV during the storm — some suffered multiple vehicle losses —to get back on the road. We call it our “Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief” programs, and they’ve been set up to make it more affordable to replace vehicles that are no longer operable.

“Anyone who’s been affected can get immediate assistance at Hassett, “ says Lou Evans, General Sales Manager for Hassett Ford of Wantagh. “This is over and above all the other incentives we always offer. “If your vehicle was ruined by Hurricane Sandy, you can come into Hassett now to receive up to an extra $1,000 in disaster relief bonus cash on any new Ford or Lincoln in our huge inventory. For those who want to purchase or lease a new or certified pre-owned Subaru, we’re offering $500 in disaster relief. And all our vehicles are available for immediate delivery. We know we can’t undo all of what this terrible storm did, but we can make replacing your vehicle easier, and less expensive.”
