On June 17th, animal rescue groups, non-profit shelters, corporate sponsors, and animal lovers in general, joined together, as one, to compare notes, share stories, and most important, raise some needed dollars in support of pet-rescue organizations across Long Island. Over 250 businesses were in attendance. The occasion was dubbed…”Unleash the Love”, and there was plenty of heartfelt sentiment in the room. The afternoon get-together was held at The Crest Hollow Country Club, where attendees were treated to a wonderful social event— included cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a lavish luncheon spread, and the opportunity to “ooh and ahh” at oversized checks being passed and presented.
One such check was passed from the management of Hassett Subaru to the dealership’s yearly “pet charity”… Pet Peeves… represented by its Founder and President, Janine Dion, and one of the Island’s foremost animal-rescue agencies and fundraising organizations.
Pet Peeves is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization that raises funds, and creates awareness, for the work of numerous local animal shelters and rescue groups in both Nassau and Suffolk. Hassett Subaru is proud to be a sponsor and supporter of their mission on behalf of homeless and abused animals. Matt Fusco, Subaru Sales Manager spoke about the ongoing commitment of this popular carmaker. “Everyone at Subaru of America stays true to the Love Promise by partnering with a wide variety of nonprofits and charities. In addition to these partnerships, every year Subaru, our owners, and our retailers join hands in the “Share the Love” event, giving back to charities across the country.
Over the past 20 years, Subaru of America has donated over 50 million dollars to causes we care about, and logged over 28,000 volunteer hours.” Lou Evans, General Sales Manager at Hassett, chimed in, “All of the organizations we support have one thing in common: the unwavering dedication to improve the world and the lives of its people.” The check of nearly $37,000 that was presented to the Pet Peeves organization will certainly go a long way to improving the lives of the homeless and abused animals that this dedicated non-profit supports. Also representing Subaru, were Joe Giampietro, Subaru District Parts & Service Manager, and Subaru District Sales Manager, Tricia Reisig— and a good time was had by all who attended.
Each year, Hassett Subaru selects a number of charitable causes that benefit from our “Share-the-love” Event that runs from November 19th to January 2nd. This year, Pet Peeves was our community’s “Charity of Choice”. On behalf of Pet Peeves, and the animals they continue to save and protect, Hassett extends a personal “thank you” to the valued customers who made Hassett Subaru their dealership of choice. For every car that was sold during the “Share-the-Love” Event, $250 was donated directly to one of five charities. It’s a “feel-good” moment, and a “win-win” opportunity, when you can slide behind the wheel of fabulous, new Subaru, and support a deserving charity as well.
