Most Common Passwords on the Internet

As one of the most popular cars in the industry, it’s no surprise that the Ford Mustang has a heavy influence over the lives of Mustang-lovers. One of the main influences is on the passwords of those who love the iconic pony car. According to a recent study done by SplashData, the “mustang” car moniker is one of the most popular passwords on the internet, ranked in the Top 25 in the 16th slot.

“We’re flattered people want to use ‘mustang’ as their password, but alone, it just isn’t strong enough to be secure,” said Keith Moss, Ford Director of Cyber Security. “We encourage people to use ‘mustang,’ but we recommend they strengthen their password by mixing upper and lower case letters, numbers, acronyms, and symbols to make it unique.”

If you are interested in paying tribute to your favorite Ford model by using it as your password, make sure you take the proper precautions and create a strong passcode. This means using both upper and lower case letters, acronyms for your favorite special editions, along with symbols and numbers. For example, add a “Shelby GTR” to make your password as strong as you can.
