Next year, Ford will celebrate 25 years of the Ford Explorer, and there is no better way to get ready for an event of such importance than with a fancy new wardrobe.
Of course, there’s more to the 2016 Ford Explorer than a bold new face. Much, much more.
Among the biggest changes is the addition of the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, which replaces the current generation’s optional 2.0-liter EcoBoost while managing to simultaneously increase power and torque and keep fuel economy steady.
Also new for the 2016 model is the Platinum series trim, which adds numerous luxurious interior and exterior touches including brushed aluminum and satin-finished ash wood trim, Nirvana leather, and signature lighting in the LED headlamps.
Other features include an improved suspension, available four-wheel drive with Terrain Management System™, hands free liftgate, and front and rear cameras with industry-first lens washers.
“Customers love Explorer, and expect this SUV to lead the way in innovation, performance and fun,” said Arie Groeneveld, chief engineer for the new Explorer. “It’s a tall order, but we’re aiming to build the best SUV in the world.”
Mission: accomplished. To check out the fruits of Ford’s labor, stay tuned to find out when you can test drive a 2016 Explorer for yourself at Hassett Automotive.
