A tour can only be as good as the vehicle responsible for taking you to its various locations. That’s why FIDO Friendly’s pet adoption tour is using the all-new 2015 Ford Expedition. The tour founders, along with their two dogs and a slew of supplies like a large spinning prize wheel, loaded up the Expedition and set out on the sixth annual Get Your Licks on Route 66® tour.
This year’s pet adoption tour began in Los Angeles on September 12th and will travel the 2,400-mile length of Route 66 until it reaches its last destination in Kansas City on October 19th. Tour founders Greg and Susan Sims will make 17 stops in all, encouraging the rescue and adoption of homeless pets.
Since it began five years ago, Get Your Licks on Route 66 has assisted in finding loving homes for over 2,000 pets.
“We are thrilled once again to be able to tour the Mother Road and help bring awareness to the plight of homeless pets,” said Susan Sims who is also publisher for FIDO Friendly magazine. “With Ford providing us a new 2015 Expedition, our two rescue hounds – Jake and Junior – are along for the ride. Local doggie daycare centers host our boys while we work the event. At the end of the day, we pick up two tired and happy dogs, then start all over the next day.”
Unfortunately, the tour won’t be headed this far East; but we at Hassett Automotive encourage our pet-loving customers to check out nearby animal shelters in our area. You may find a Fido begging for you to take him home.
