Hassett Automotive

As Long Island’s #1 Volume Ford Lincoln dealer, and ten-time consecutive winner of the manufacturer’s prestigious President’s Award, Hassett Ford of Wantagh has certainly seen its share of exciting new car introductions during its decades in business. But seldom has customer response been more ‘electric’ than since the recent arrival of four particular models: the 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid and Energi, plus the C-Max Hybrid and Energi.

“Honestly, we’re in overdrive trying to meet the demand,” admits Lou Evans, General Sales Manager at Hassett Ford of Wantagh with a smile. “Both the hybrid and plug-in models are practically ‘flying’ off our lot, and we currently have 20 hybrids on order. From the incredible mileage and fuel-savings they deliver to the eco-friendly operation, it’s clear our clients are really enthusiastic about going ‘green’.

While sharing numerous attributes — all are built to comfortably seat five, for instance — there are distinct differences/benefits to choosing a hybrid or plug-in model, as well as picking a Fusion or C-Max. For example, both Energi cars feature electricity + gas power and feature an astounding 100 combined mileage equivalence rating (108 city/92 highway) to the lower, yet still impressive 47/47 for the hybrid models.

On the other hand, the fact that the hybrids don’t require plugging in. The five built-in batteries allow both Fusion and C-Max hybrids to generate electricity on their own using the vehicles braking system. Some people also like that, from a complete stop, the Fusion Hybrid can travel under light-to-normal acceleration up to 62 miles per hour on electric power alone, so absolutely no fuel is used.

The most apparent difference between the C-Max and Fusion models is easy to see. As  mid-sized sedans, the Fusion Hybrid and Energi are beautiful sleek sedans. The C-Max is a five-door hatchback which offers a larger roof and more cargo space. In terms of interior style and comfort, though, both Fusion and C-Max versions are comparably appealing.

“With these four cars, Ford has made it possible for everyone to have what they want,” adds Evans. “All four offer fuel-efficiency, performance, and eco-friendliness in varying degrees to accommodate virtually any driver’s preference. Their appeal becomes really clear when seen up-close-and-personally, so I strongly suggest that anyone interested come down to our Wantagh showroom on Sunrise Highway to see what all the excitement is about…and the sooner the better! Like I said earlier, we’re selling them faster than we’re getting them, so the quicker a customer orders theirs, the sooner they’ll be able to start enjoying the savings and performance for themselves.”
