The 2012 Ford F-150 wasn’t engineered to just be a show truck. Like a thoroughbred that yearns to race, the latest Ford F-150 variant begs for its truck-bed to be full of work supplies and its towing capacity maxed out. MotorTrend has confirmed that the all new pickup means business by awarding it the 2012 Truck of the Year which is a highly sought after achievement.
One of the main reason’s why MotorTrend gave Ford the trophy is the incredible EcoBoost engine offering. For starters, it’s a gasoline direct-injection, twin-turbo, V6 engine which gets optimized power and fuel economy. Although two V8 engine options exist (a 5.0-liter and 6.2-liter), the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 gets the job done thanks to 365 horsepower and plenty of low-end torque for hauling. When compared to the base 3.6-liter V6, the EcoBoost gets a comparable 16 city mpg/22 hwy mpg and grants nearly 60 more horsepower.
U.S. News and Rankings also claims the 2012 Ford F-150 as king of the pickup truck market citing the versatility and endless customization choices as reasons. When test drivers took the F-150 off-road they were “impressed with its capabilities” and during New York’s tough winter 4-wheel-drive can be a must. In addition to off-roading prowess, the 2012 F-150 also can tow up to 11,300 lbs when outfitted with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost. Kelly Blue Book commented: “Perhaps most impressive was the towing demonstration in which we hauled 20-foot trailers with absolutely zero drama, thanks in large part to the pickup’s trailer sway control, rearview camera and integrated trailer brake controller.”
Hassett of Wantagh is proud to offer such a rugged and capable truck. The 2012 Ford F-150 has ten trim varieties that are suitable for heavy duty work, off-roading, daily driving, and everything in between. Thanks to the Hassett Advantage, Long Island customers get complimentary benefits such as free first service, 24-hour roadside assistance for new vehicles, and Long Island’s largest parts inventory.
